I'm in another city hanging out with my cohort. You know. We had a conversation about written communications, specifically signatures.

I use 'Sincerely' to address strangers in a business communications format, I think 'Yours truly' smacks of speaking third person and sounds like narration in a film. When I want to be genuine or convey a positive closing feeling, I write 'Warm Regards' or, if it's an unsolicited letter requiring response, 'Kind Regards.' I save 'Regards' for special circumstances, generally to close a complaint letter wherein I haven't described how I'm angry as much as how I will indeed take the effort to follow up, and that I will continue through the chain of command until I get exactly what I want in addition to an apology. It's a gentile way to remind the reader that I am, indeed, coming to kill them.
Regards,

L.
