Thinking about what to do after this, as in employment, imagining scenarios from Mad Max to business-as-usual. Over lunch we discussed whether Canada could outright buy California. I would support the Movement for A West Coast Annex. While we're at it, Portland and Seattle are reasonably fun, maybe they'd like a little bit of Stevie H. with that side of Obama.
But seriously. This time next year, where to go/what to do?
An epiphany, not long ago, about how my field is disinclined towards innovation. Way back, running research projects in school, there was a huge benefit to borrowing strategy from other disciplines. Professional training has been helpful in that I understand things I otherwise wouldn't and carved a natural skill set into something marketable, but it's de-innovating my brain through repetitive thinking and mass celebration of conformity.
So that's disturbing.
But rather than trying to Take Down The System and Fight The Man, or whatever seems like the obvious conclusion, I think the solution right now is not making friends with anyone else in my profession.
I bet you weren't expecting that.
