I went to see exactly one place and decided to live there. Aside from the walk to my office being slightly grotesque (see: Arbys, Staples, McTypical sprawl with sidewalks leering at noisy dirty traffic and no trees), I pretty much have the best deal I've ever had: an entire basement, a landlord who's rarely home, a house which is tidy (and smells like nothing), incredibly cheap rent that I don't have to pay until I actually move in, and a ride to and from work whenever I want because the landlord owns a shop a few blocks from my office. His benefit? Someone to be at his house when he's not.
Celebrating with a soy fruit beverage.
The street corner I'm on is vaguely like downtown T.O., but still with that unfortunate old lady hair clipping business. It is 1.5 blocks from my future office. If I never leave perimeter the small park my office is situated on, I think it will be ok.
I am 15% less upset about moving now.
